I started to grow hosta back in the 90’s and soon was growing hosta seed which lead me to the streaked hosta. I enjoy watching them change from year to year and sometimes changing during the growing season. At first I just bought other hybridizers streaked plants, but soon ran out of room in my garden. So I need to move those streaked hosta out of my garden to make room for my own seedlings. I soon realized that I could not keep all the seedlings that I grew, so I needed to learn how to cull. That is not an easy chore as you already know or will learn in time.

I decided that I would name the breeding plants that I used as it is easier for me to keep track of the crosses I make this way. I now have over 100 registered hosta and have gone down many different paths with my breeding program. In the last few years I have made many crosses trying to create my own line of pollen donors. It has been quite the fun journey and I hope that I have helped a few people along the way to enjoy this hobby of growing hosta seed. My only regret is that I did not start my hobby earlier in life.
